The paper is devoted to the study of the communicative strategies and tactics of the English language literary text author. According to the analysis of theoretical sources and empirical data, the main functional types of communicative strategies and tactics of their implementation have been outlined. The major stylistic, graphical, lexicо-stylistical, and grammatical means of realization of the tactics of presentational strategy as the dominant type were illustrated by the examples from the novel of Virginia Woolf «Mrs. Dalloway». Considering the main types of communicative strategies and tactics, their sub-strategies and detailed classification, the article analyzes the main stylistic, graphical, lexical-stylistic and grammatical means of realization of the presentation strategy. These are the tactics of stimulation, change of speaking subjects, a compliment of the speaker to the addressee, feigned politeness, distraction the addressee's attention from the existing problems and reactive. These tactics are realized in speech by the use of imperatives, rhetorical questions, inclusive, impersonal sentences, stylistically colored parts of speech, repetitions. The implementation of the intimisation tactic involves graphical tools such as the repetition of colons, exclamation, expressive punctuation, the division of text into the paragraphs, change the font size. Some authors use a lexico-stylistic means (such as slang, emotive words, as well as grammatical means (to implement the tactics of evaluation, shortening the distance between the narrator and the reader). During the study of communicative strategies and tactics both linguo stylistic and pragmatic approaches are integrated to be applied to address those areas of communications where the senders consciously and purposefully plan their communicative actions.
